In this course, you will learn all the steps required to practice the unique tradition and craft of working with amadou, which is a velvety material derived from tinder mushrooms. Detailed, specific, step-by-step instructions will be demonstrated in videos. From harvesting and trimming the mushrooms to separating the amadou layer and preparing it for use, you’ll gain valuable insights and practical skills. Through this course you’ll not only possess expertise to work with amadou but also a deeper appreciation for its rich cultural heritage. Created in collaboration with skilled amadou artisans from Transylvania, this course ensures an authentic and comprehensive learning experience.
You don’t need prior experience with working amadou as the course guides you through the entire process, from the forest to a finished piece of material. Please note that working with amadou is considered as slow craft, emphasizing patience, attention to detail, and a deep appreciation for the artisanal process.

Optimal Areas for Picking Tinder Mushrooms:
- Old Beech Forests, preferably colder microclimate beech forests
The course is conducted in English. Please ensure you have access to tinder mushrooms in the area you live. After purchasing the course, you will have access to 6 modules that walk you through the whole process of amadou work. You’ll also receive an invitation to a private Facebook group where you can interact with fellow amadou enthusiast and workers. Moreover, you have the opportunity to seek guidance and advice from a seasoned amadou professional, allowing you to enhance your proficiency.
